Setup:
This game is best played with 3 or more players. To begin, find a quiet, comfortable environment and sit in a circle. Set the Opener and Closer cards aside. Shuffle the rest of the cards and place them into one main deck face down.
Objective:
Collect a full Soulversations set as a group: 1 Courage, 1 Compassion, 1 Wonder, and 1 Connections! card.
How To Play:
The player with the birthday closest to the day's date goes first.
The first player randomly selects an Opener card for everyone to play as a warm-up. Once completed, you're ready to begin your journey!
Next, the player to the left picks the top card from the main deck and plays it.
Courage, Compassion, and Wonder cards are answered only by the player who selects them.
COMMUNITAAAAY! and Connections! cards are answered or played as a group.
For Connections! that ask for partners, have one person play twice in a pairing if there's an odd number of players.
Once a card is played, the group collects it and the player to their left selects the next card.
Players can opt-out of answering any question drawn. However, if another player would like to collect the card for the group, they may volunteer to answer instead.
Wrap up the experience with the Closer card.
Length:
Depends on the number of players, what cards are selected, and the depth of your answers. To collect a Soulversations set, we estimate setting aside at least 45 minutes. Want to keep playing? Try for a second set!
You can also customize and use the cards in your own creative way. In the past, these cards have been used individually as journal prompts, conversation starters, and icebreakers.
